Coach Bass begins his first year as the Head Coach with the 2013-2014 season. Formerly an assistant with the Women’s Basketball team in 2012-2013, Coach Bass takes over for James Gayton.
For the past ten years, he has learned and taught the game of basketball while serving as a camp clinician, program coordinator and coach of AAU basketball programs in Northeast Massachusetts. He has worked with the Hoop Specialists, B.I.G. Threat, and Bay State Blizzard programs while a head coach and an assistant of women’s basketball teams ranging from Grade 5 – Grade 11. Mentored by Kevin Barboza, Coach Bass’ teams focus on solid fundamentals and exceptional conditioning.
Coach Bass, an attorney with ten years of experience, is also the principal of the Law Office of Brent J. Bass, P.C., a general practice law firm located in Saugus, Massachusetts. He resides in Reading, Massachusetts with his wife, Julie, and two daughters, Emily and Olivia.
New to the women’s basketball team is assistant coach Jason Button. Button, who comes to Northern Essex with college coaching experience already, joins NECC after both playing and coaching at California University of Pennsylvania.
Button also has coached at Pembroke Academy in New Hampshire, where he was the head coach of their girl’s junior varsity team. The NECC coach also brings with him experience from the New Hampshire Fisher Cats baseball team, located in Manchester.
