Bridge Program
The Northern Essex Community College (NECC) Bridge Program is sponsored by the Student Success Center for incoming Latino(a) college students. It is designed to help ease students’ adjustment to college life and build a foundation for academic success. The two week program will help participants improve their Math and English language skills, as well as introduce them to student support services. Incoming freshman students will become acquainted with NECC resources, meet current students and alumni; learn effective note taking and study skills, stress and time management techniques, learn about their strengths and explore academic programs & career choices.
Eligibility Requirements
- Be a Hispanic 2013 high school graduate with a minimum 2.50 GPA
- Be registered in at least 2 courses for Fall 2013 at NECC
- Have completed the NECC Assessment by June 1, 2013
- Be committed to attend the entire summer bridge program, August 12 – August 23, 2013

Monday, August 12 – Friday, August 23, 2013; 8:00AM to 3:00PM
Application Process
Interested students must complete the following documentation:
- Application for NECC Bridge Program
- Student Personal Statement
- Two Recommendation Forms (to be printed and completed by a current teacher/guidance counselor/school principal)
- High School Transcript
Deadline
Applications for the NECC Bridge Program will be accepted until June 1, 2013.
Completed applications should be sent to the Student Success Center, Room L 109, 45 Franklin Street, Lawrence, MA 01840-1121. Acceptance letters will be issued on June 12, 2013. The program is limited to 15 students. Materials, books, and lunch will be provided free of charge.
