Financial Literacy and Planning
Financial aid can help you pay for the costs of attending NECC including tuition and fees, books, and other costs (room and board, transportation, and personal costs). The SSC will help you learn how you can apply for financial aid. You will also discover the importance of financial life planning and budgeting, and learn about credit, savings, and loans.
At the Student Center, we’ll help you learn how to balance school with work and your personal life, and connect you with resources to help you achieve academic success. Through the use of tools like DegreeWorks, you can monitor your progress toward degree completion and stay focused on your academic goals.
Orientation and Engagement
Attending NECC’s new student orientation is a great way to learn about the college, and getting involved with a club, sport, or activity is an excellent way to meet new friends, develop new skills, and succeed at NECC. The SSC staff will provide information on the many opportunities offered at NECC.
The SSC offers a series of workshops in academic skills and career development. These workshops are facilitated by the SSC staff throughout the semester. Some of the workshop topics include: Study Skills, Note Taking, Motivation, Test Taking Skills, Resume Writing, Business Etiquette and Dress for Success. The SSC has also collaborated with other departments to expand our workshops. Students are encouraged to visit this link to register.
