Blackboard is a Web-based course-management system designed to allow students and faculty to participate in classes delivered online or access online course materials and activities to complement face-to-face classes. Blackboard enables students to participate via discussion boards and virtual chat, and access online quizzes and an academic resource center.
The degree to which Blackboard is used in a course varies. For example, instructors may supplement an on-campus class by putting their syllabus and handouts on their course sites. Other courses may be conducted entirely through Blackboard, without any on-campus sessions. If you are enrolled in a course that uses Blackboard, be sure to find out how Blackboard will be used in that course.
Access Blackboard on Your Mobile Device
Did you know that you can access Blackboard on your mobile device? You can access any course on NECC’s Blackboard from your iPhone, Android, or Blackberry. Using the Blackboard (Bb) Mobile Learn app, you can access course content, read announcements, see your grades, and participate in discussions, blogs, and more.
To download the Bb Mobile Learn app, click on the link on your My Blackboard page, or simply go to your device’s app store and search for “Blackboard Mobile Learn.” After installing it, when you open the app for the first time, you will see a “Search for your school” field. Type in Northern Essex Community College and it will bring up the Bb Learn login page. Enter your Blackboard username & password to login. After you have successfully logged in you will be asked to choose an access option. You have the option of either purchasing a 1-year subscription for $1.99 or unlimited access that never expires for $5.99.
