Congress enacted the Crime Awareness and Campus Safety Act of 1990 under Public Law 101-542, Title II. This act requires that institutions of higher education receiving federal funding collect information with respect to crime statistics and campus Safety policies and, beginning September 1992, prepare, publish and distribute an annual Safety report. This act is now known as The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Safety Policy and Campus Crimes Statistics Act (“Clery Act”). In 2009, federal regulations issued by the Department of Education require additional reporting on campus safety policies and procedures.

Northern Essex Community College, in accordance with these requirements, publishes an annual Campus Safety & Security Report (Clery Report) and makes this report available to the campus community each September. The report includes important safety information and detailed crime statistics for the previous three years.
