The mission of Alternative House is to facilitate the creation of a society in which violence against women will no longer exist. As a means to this end, they offer shelter, support, options, counseling and advocacy for all battered women and their children who seek our help. The Alternative House is committed to the empowerment of women toward self-sufficiency and do not discriminate against any race, class, culture, age group or sexual orientation. In addition, they provide community education to reform societal attitudes that allow violence against women.
Emerge: Counseling and Education to End Domestic Violence
Emerge’s mission is to eliminate violence in intimate relationships. In working toward this goal, Emerge seeks to educate individual abusers, prevent young people from learning to accept violence in their relationships, improve institutional responses to domestic violence, and increase public awareness about the causes and solutions to partner violence. With the development of parenting education groups for fathers, Emerge has expanded its mission to include a goal of helping men to become more responsible parents.

Healing Abuse Working for Change
HAWC – Healing Abuse Working for Change, formerly known as Help for Abused Women and their Children, was founded in 1978. Since then HAWC delivered free services to victims of domestic violence. Today we continue to develop and expand our services in our unyielding effort to find more effective ways to prevent domestic violence. Our hotline is available 24 hours each day. Staff and volunteers can be accessed in hospitals, courtrooms, police departments and classrooms. No one deserves to live in fear and together we can and will stop the violence.

Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center, Inc.
The Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center envisions a culture in which domestic violence and abusive behavior are not tolerated and helps to empower members of the community to live free from fear, intimidation, violence or the threat of abuse but means of various programs, advocacy, support, and education. Programs include a crisis hotline, counseling, support groups, legal and court advocacy, safe homes and shelters, and many more.

New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence
The New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence is a statewide network of independent member programs committed to ending domestic and sexual violence. This organization seeks to prevent future violence by education the public, ensures quality services to victims and survivors, as well as influence and change public policy. The services provided are free, confidential, and available to all victims regardless of age, race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, physical ability or financial status and include emergency shelter and transportation, legal advocacy, hospital, police, and court accompaniment, and information and help in obtaining public assistance.

The National Domestic Violence Hotline (NDVH)
NDVH is a nonprofit organization that provides crisis intervention, information and referral to victims of domestic violence, perpetrators, friends and families. The Hotline answers a variety of calls and is a resource for domestic violence advocates government officials, law enforcement agencies and the general public. NDVH also provides crisis intervention, safety planning, referrals to local agencies, information on domestic violence, assistance in both English and Spanish and well as many other services.

Turning Point, Inc. develops human service programs that promote empowerment, independence, and self-sufficiency for individuals with mental disabilities and disadvantages; Women and their children who are victims of domestic violence and/or abuse; and for individuals in need of substance abuse counseling. Turning Point also provides counseling and treatment for those who are in need of criminal behavior modification. The programs provided include an initial safe house with counseling and recovery that will eventually help those in need emerge back into society confidently.

Women’s Resource Center
Women’s Resource Center of Greater Lawrence/Haverhill provides services to battered women and their families. The primary purpose of the center is to be one of the many forces dedicated to the elimination of violence against women and children. Their mission also includes services for victims of rape and other forms of sexual assault. Their guiding philosophy is that all women must be empowered in every way possible, in order to grow and develop, and ultimately reach their fullest potential. The philosophy should encompass all our public and private activities: psychological, emotional, political and economic.

YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all by way of the Hallmark Programs. Each local YWCA implements Hallmark Programs, although specific programs vary from one community to another based on the unique needs of each market. These Hallmark Programs have direct impact and create meaningful change with measurable results. YWCA not only intends to raise awareness of the issues, but intends to affect real change. The goal is not to pave the way for the future to create a better future.
