Criteria
For this scholarship, merit is based on student scores on the 10th grade Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) test. For a list of the eligibility requirements, please refer to the Office of Student Financial Assistance.

There is no application process. Students that are eligible for the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship will be notified in the fall of their senior year in high school.

Recipients are eligible for an award of a non-need-based tuition waiver for state-supported undergraduate courses. Students are also required to maintain a G.P.A. of 3.0 for continued eligibility.

Senior Care Innovation Scholarship
Criteria
- The Annual Scholarship award is for five students enrolled in an associate degree, bachelor’s degree or graduate level program in a medical, nursing or social sciences related major. The student must intend on pursuing a career that involves working with senior citizens. The applicant must be attending classes at an accredited college or university at the time of the spring deadline.
- Employees of A Place for Mom and members of their immediate family (spouse, parent, child, sibling and their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside) and persons living in the same household, whether or not related, of such employees, are not eligible to apply.
- Applicants must complete a letter of introduction and an essay that is between 500 and 900 words on a selected topic and sign the Scholarship Award Agreement.
- Scholarship will be awarded to five students who write the most compelling essay in each of five categories as judged by an outside panel of senior living professionals.

**Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education
Criteria
The purpose of the Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation, as stated in the enabling legislation, is to alleviate a critical current and future shortage of highly qualified scientists, mathematicians, and engineers. A more realistic statement of the purpose, in today’s terms, is to provide a continuing source of highly qualified individuals to those fields of academic study and research. Each scholarship covers eligible expenses for undergraduate tuition, fees, books, and room and board, up to a maximum of $7,500 annually.
- Be a community college student planning to graduate & transfer to a 4-year college.
- Have at least a 3.0 GPA

**Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship
The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship makes it possible for the nation’s top community college students to complete their bachelor’s degrees by transferring to a four-year college or university. The Foundation provides up to $40,000 per year to each of approximately 85 deserving students selected annually, making it the largest private scholarship for two-year and community college transfer students in the country.

- Be a current student at an accredited US community college or two-year institution with sophomore status by December 31, 2016, or a recent graduate (since spring 2011).
- Plan to enroll full-time in a baccalaureate program at an accredited college or university.

Criteria
For use at UMass Boston ONLY. This scholarship was established to honor Foster Furcolo, who served as governor of Massachusetts from 1957 to 1960. He was instrumental in the creation of the system of public community colleges in the Commonwealth. Award is a waiver of all tuition and fees at UMass Boston for up to 2 years.

John and Abigail Adams Scholarship
Criteria
For this scholarship, merit is based on student scores on the 10th grade Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) test. For a list of the eligibility requirements, please refer to the Office of Student Financial Assistance.
There is no application process. Students that are eligible for the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship will be notified in the fall of their senior year in high school.
Recipients are eligible for an award of a non-need-based tuition waiver for state-supported undergraduate courses. Students are also required to maintain a G.P.A. of 3.0 for continued eligibility.
