PART-TIME PATHWAYS (3 to 5 years) are available for most degrees. To qualify to take college-level classes, some students may be required to take college preparation classes first.

Program Snapshot

  • Associate Degree in Middle/High School Education Program prepares to become a licensed teacher grades 6-12.
  • The program is designed to prepare students to be eligible to transfer and complete teacher licensure process
  • Associates Degree prepares students to transfer to a four-year school and become a licensed teacher
  • All education courses require practicum hours observing classrooms at local schools
  • Schools may require COR/SORI/CHRI to complete fieldwork observations
  • Successful completion of the program qualifies graduates to work in schools as a Paraprofessional, Instructional Aide or after school/camp teacher.
  • Part time option available and some courses available online
  • Most courses are offered in Haverhill with some courses in Lawrence
  • Some courses target MTEL Teacher Certification Test preparation and is embedded in coursework
  • Many transfer articulation agreement opportunities with four year colleges/universities to complete teaching degree.
  • Students should consult their advisor to select courses that are in their area that they want to teach to fulfil electives.

Helpful Hints

  • If you intend on to graduate with an associate degree in two years, you should enroll in 5 courses each semester, or take some non-Education courses in the winter Intersession or summer
  • EDU 203 is only offered in the Fall
  • Courses are listed in the required order you should take them.
  • EDU 203 has prerequisite requirements

Milestone Courses

Milestone courses are the most important for success in the program, should be taken in the sequence shown, and may require certain grades or other outcomes for your continued progress toward graduation. They may also cover most, or all the six core skills required for graduation.
