You can use Navigate Student Planner to build your academic plan for many of the upcoming semesters. You need to use a desktop computer to access the planner, and we recommend using Navigate Chrome as your browser.
If you are a new student at NECC and have declared your major, you should see a list of suggested courses on the left of your planner, with a blank space on the right. Add some terms on the right of the page, and then you can add your courses from the suggested list to the terms.
If you declared your major before Fall 2019, you will need to get your list of courses needed to finish your major from an advisor or from your program website. Then, you can use the Search feature to add courses to terms just like a new student.
Once you add your courses, you should select “Pick Times” to select the actual sections of courses you plan to take.
You’ll need to set your preferences (Block off your busy time, and tell Navigate which campus you want to take classes on). Then, you can choose your sections and add them onto your schedule.
It’s important to make sure you still check your degree audit every once in a while to make sure you aren’t missing anything crucial for graduation!

Can Navigate help me locate resources I may need?
Yes! From the Navigate student homepage or app, click on “Resources” to find a director of all of the physical and digital resources available to you as an NECC student. If you click the “People” Tab at the top, you will also be able to access the contact info for your advisor and your instructors.
Will Navigate remind me of deadlines and things that I need to do?
Yes! Navigate has a special list of to dos that are the most important things to remember throughout the semester. Keep in mind that these to dos do not include assignments from your professors. You can add those yourself, by clicking “Add Personal Reminder”.
You can OPT IN to receive notifications on your mobile device through push notifications, email, and/or text messaging. Click on the “Settings” button and “Update Notification settings” to OPT IN.
I just resolved a hold or registered for a class and it hasn’t changed in Navigate, why?
If you made a change to your academic data (changed your major, removed a hold, or added/dropped a class) you will need to wait until the next morning to see the change reflected in Navigate. If the issue persists longer than 24 hours, contact navigate@necc.mass.edu.
How do I change my notification settings?
You can OPT IN to receive notifications on your mobile device through push notifications, email, and/or text messaging. Click on the “Settings” button and “Update Notification settings” to OPT IN.
Help! Something is wrong with my class schedule
Course schedules are updated every 24 hours in Navigate, so check back tomorrow if you added or dropped a course that’s not appearing correctly. If the issue continues, contact navigate@necc.mass.edu
One of my majors is appearing, but not my second major!
Navigate only displays one major, so if you’re double-majoring your second major will not appear. Don’t panic!
What do I do if my app is frozen or acting weird?
Try to conduct a hard close and relaunch the app. For iOS, double click the home button and swipe away the app preview to close. For Android, open the app manager view and slide the app preview away.
Navigate Registration Troubleshooting
If you see an error while using Navigate, take the steps below to resolve the issue.
Error: Prerequisite and test score error
Have you met the requirements to take the course? You can check the pre-requisites by clicking on “ View Details” on the course
All of the prerequisite and test score details will be listed under “Instructions”
Error: Section not available
If there is an open section with seats available but you get this error, it might be because you need special approval for a class (e.g., internships). Check with your advisor or email navigate@necc.mass.edu for help.
Error: Time Ticket prevented registration
This error might have to do with your eligibility to register yourself for classes. Please call (978) 556-3700 or contact your advisor to get instructions on next steps. You can find your advisor listed under Resources → People in Navigate.
Error: Term not eligible for registration
If you see this error, check to make sure that the registration period is open for the term you are registering. If you try to register before registration opens, this is when you’ll get this error.
