Come and learn how to survive the apocalypse the good, old fashioned way! With new primitive skills like making shelter, tracking animals through the woods, and knowing what’s food and what isn’t. Double your chances of survival through understanding patterns in disease and wildlife, and eventually come up with your own solution, to not only survive, but thrive and end the apocalypse!

Take a tour of the world through art! This class will take a global look at mediums, focuses and methods to create authentic works of art for students to take home.

Clay Studio

Create 3D works of art using one of the oldest materials in art history – clay. Explore different techniques such as slab rolling, pinch pots, molding, and coil building by only using our hands. Customize each project to your liking and bring home some works of art!

Crafting Tall Tales

In this course students will write and share stories by learning how to write about place, characters, and plot. We’ll study one major piece of the writing puzzle each day, practicing with writing exercises as we go. Then students will write their own story, starting with the person, place or idea they’ve already written.

Crazy Chemists

Explore chemistry through a hands-on approach to pique curiosity about the world around them! Learn about freezing point depression as we make our own ice cream using only plastic baggies, water, and salt.  Explore how glue and borax can combine to make awesome bouncy balls and fun slime.   Learn how to make cool art using homemade bubble solution!  These are only a few of the fun and educational activities we will have in store.

Dr. Seuss Theater

Come get lost in the wacky world of Seuss! Full of rhymes, colorful characters and the famous CAT in the HAT… we will play Seuss inspired games, creative activities and learn some songs from Seussical the Musical! There will be a final performance for any students who want to act and sing. Final performance will be Directed/Stage Managed by students who are more comfortable behind the scenes!

Everyday Physics

Answer many of life’s questions in this class. Will 100 pins make a balloon pop? How can you make a paper airplane fly farther? How does a catapult work? How can a car be powered by a balloon? What makes things float in the air? Can an egg survive a one story drop? What’s the strongest type of bridge? All of these questions can be answered with physics!

This course will introduce boys and girls to the sport of lacrosse and enable them with a basic understanding of the sport and general rules. During the course, students will work on various techniques of the game and participate in several drills. No experience is necessary for this course and we will provide all equipment.

Picture Perfecy

Picture Perfecy

Participants in Picture Perfect will learn how to compose and shoot stunning digital photographs. We will begin by exploring composition styles and creative ways to take pictures, then we will build skills in editing photographs on the computer. By the end of the week, students will have a portfolio of images to share!

Students need to provide their own digital camera.

Spend the week creating designs and executing them using fabric paint, markers and tie dye on t-shirts! All students must bring five pre-washed 100% cotton t-shirts to decorate.

Come scavenge the NECC campus in search of hidden treasure! Students will learn about historic treasure hunts, ancient maps and the art of map-making! Create your own treasure map during the week and try to locate treasure on campus!

Who’s the Best Builder?

Explore types of energy forces and structural designs in this hands on building course. Compete to build a bridge that can withstand the most weight and survive harsh stress tests. Design and construct a Rube Goldberg machine that uses gravity, inertia, and everyday objects to cause a chain reaction that will shut off an alarm before it goes off. Combine your creativity and knowledge of physics to see if you can be the best builder!

Yoga Games

Stretch your mind and body through mindful play with Yoga Games! This course is designed to teach children about yoga, while experiencing its many benefits through active games. By the end of this class, participants will gain knowledge through fun and inclusive games. Activities will be held outdoors when weather permits, as well as indoors, depending on activity.
