CHIPS Act “Tech Hub” Proposal in Action

The City of Haverhill is developing a new Advanced Manufacturing Business Park, a new Life Sciences/Food Tech Innovation Center in the downtown, and expanding its Ward Hill Business Park already home to many manufacturers. Haverhill intends to jumpstart the new developments with a regional smart manufacturing hub spearheaded by a model smart factory to help startups, scale-ups and established vendors, manufacturers, and workforce training programs scale-up smart manufacturing for the following high-growth industries in Massachusetts: Advanced Manufacturing/Semiconductor, Life Sciences/Biotech/Pharma and Climate Technology.

Creating Regional Manufacturing Resiliency

  • Examine Smart Manufacturing demand in three major industries:
    • Advanced Manufacturing, Life Sciences, Climate Technology
  • Learn how to scale-up Smart Manufacturing for profitability, safety, resiliency and sustainability
  • Determine how small and medium-sized manufacturers can overcome barriers to adopt advanced manufacturing
