SUMMARY:CANCELLED: Algebra/Trig/Calculus Boot Camp 2020
DESCRIPTION:Register Today for the Algebra/Trig/Calculus Boot Camp\nAlgebra/Trig/Calculus Boot Camp is a helpful and stress-free workshop to help students learn\, and practice the mathematical concepts in Algebra\, Trigonometry and Calculus. The curriculum will introduce new methods to help revive your mathematical skills by introducing different strategies to master problems using algebra up to calculus concepts. \nThe boot camp is a fun and exciting camp for students to work together and sharpen their skills in order to be successful in the Calculus (STEM or Business) sequence. If selected to participate\, you will take part in a week long experience that will help you to become a better learner and give you the foundation to be ready for future mathematics courses. \nBoot Camp Schedule: Dates\, Times\, & Location\nBoot Camp will run March 20 & 21\, 2020. \nSessions will start at 8:00 am and end at 5:00 pm (9 hours per day for 2 days) with a break in the middle. All of the meetings will be held on the Haverhill Campus in the Spurk (C) Building in C113. \nWho Can Apply?\nAny student who applies will be considered. This camp is exclusively built for students coming from/to/in MAT130\, MAT140\, MAT 145 or who had challenges in Business Calculus or Calculus I due to Algebra or Trigonometry. \nRegistration / Cost\nThe program is completely free and there is no charge to attend or for materials. Seat registrations must be submitted by Wednesday\, March 18\, 2020. \nPlease use this registration link to register and reserve your seat! First come\, first serve! \nAbout the Boot Camp Workshop\n\nBenefits\nBenefits\nThis one-week boot camp will focus on problem solving\, explorations\, and applications of mathematics. It will incorporate calculator skills where students can: \n\nCheck their algebra skills\nGet up to speed on their graphing calculator skills\nLearn how to solve real life problems – not memorize\nBe familiar with notation\nActually learn the formulas\n\nStudents will collaboratively master these topics in an environment of rigorous mathematical immersion. \n\nFormat\nFormat\n\nFace-to-face meetings.\nStudents will solve problems in class and have faculty right there to help.\nSnacks will be provided.\n\n\nContent for Algebra\nContent for Algebra\n\nNumber systems\, Numeracy skills\, Factoring\, Solving linear and quadratic equations\, Applications\nGraphing functions\, Inequality equations\, Domain\, Range\, Interval and set notation: Rational functions\, Radical functions\, Composition of functions\, Applications\nOne-to-one and inverse functions\, Simplifying terms with exponents\,\nPolynomial functions\, Exponent and logarithmic properties: Solving exponent and logarithmic equations\, Applications\, Review of the week\n\n\nContent for Trigonometry\nContent for Trigonometry\n\nTrigonometric functions and Applications of Right Triangles \nIdentities: Pythagorean\, Sum and Difference\, double Angles\, Half Angles \nProving Trigonometric Identities\, Inverse of Trigonometric Functions and Solving Trigonometric Equations \nLaw of the Sine & Law of the Cosine\,\nComplex Numbers: Trigonometric Notation\, Multiplication\, Division\, Power and Root of complex with Trigonometric form\n\n\nContent for Calculus\nContent for Calculus\n\nWhat is a Limit and when does a limit exist \nHow do you evaluate a limit\nLimits at Infinity\nThe Intermediate Value Theorem\nThe Power Rule\nThe Product and Quotient Rules\nThe Chain Rules\n\n\n\nMore Information\nFor more information\, please contact the NECC Math Department! \nHabib Maagoul: hmaagoul@necc.mass.edu or 978-556-3344 \n \n \n \n Print View
