Come Check Out The ASL Club

The ASL Club discusses, shares, and promotes an understanding of ASL and Deaf Culture at NECC and in the community. By increasing awareness and knowledge of deaf people and their culture and increasing access to the resources at NECC, members strive to increase the responsiveness of the college to students in ASL programs and Deaf Culture.

 
At club meetings, we do things like have deeper discussions about Deaf culture issues or ASL questions (grammar, linguistics, sign choice and history, classifiers), casually chat in ASL, discuss films, and play ASL games. Interpreting students will take turns interpreting for anyone in the group who needs language access.  ASL Club remains a safe space for people to make mistakes.  We have a wide range of ASL skills, and everyone is welcome.
