Apples and Oranges: Non-violent Protest, Insurrection and False Equivalencies

March 10, 2021, 11:30 am to 12:30 pm

Civic Reflection Series

Politics and Government Professor, Stephen Slaner will deliver a talk and lead a discussion that reflects on recent events in Washington DC, from the riot and insurrection on January 6 to the Impeachment trial and calls to “move on” for the sake of unity. Prof. Slaner makes the case that such calls fail to appreciate the radical difference between the peace protests throughout the country during the spring and summer of 2020 and the insurrection in January 2021.
