Earlier this academic year, NECC was awarded a Higher Education Innovation Fund (HEIF) grant to help fund the redesign of FYS 101: First Year Seminar to align it with the College’s Equity Imperative and the DHE’s new Strategic Plan for Racial Equity. Through this redesign, we hope to use the FYS course as one of many ways NECC is working to close gaps in student success; and we hope the curricular and pedagogical updates to FYS can be useful to all faculty and staff.
If you are interested in learning about the redesigned FYS101, you’re invited to sign up for an upcoming First Year Seminar Professional Development opportunity! You do not need to be scheduled to teach the course to attend; the training is open to anyone in Academic and Student Affairs who is interested in learning more.
