Lawrence Walking Tour Followed by a Gathering at Spicket River Brewery

Join Rich Padova at 3pm, history/government instructor for an informative walking tour of the Gateway District in downtown Lawrence. We will begin at the Visitors’ Center at Lawrence Heritage, 1 Jackson Street, learning the history of the former textile mills, including the famous “Lawrence Catastrophe.”

We will cross over the canal to Island Street, where we will visit the former Kunhardt Mill, now Bell Tower Square, and see the interior space of a renovated mill. The tour will conclude at the end of Island Street with a climb to the top of the 25-foot “mound” at Ferrous Park, where we will enjoy panoramic, 360-degree views of Lawrence.

Following the tour, join us at Spicket River Brewery at 4:30.
