July 26, 2021, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Image describing event for July 28 on Marjane Satrapi

Dr. Maryann Zehtabi and Prof. Marc Mannheimer lead a presentation on Wednesday, July 28 on the renowned Iranian-born French graphic-novelist, cartoonist, illustrator, film director, and children’s book author, Marjane Satrapi. Many people may not recognize her name, but will be familiar with the film of her most famous auto-biographical graphic novels, Persepolis, and Persepolis 2.  The English language version of Persepolis was nominated for an Academy Award in 2008, earning Satrapi the first such nomination for a woman. Controversially, Persepolis was ordered removed from the public schools of Chicago because of its graphic language and violence.
