Want to learn more about the advantages of American Sign Language-English bilingualism for your deaf or hard-of-hearing child? The latest research, parent information packets, storybook apps and more at VL2: a National Science Foundation, Science of Learning Center.
The Clerc Center works to help raise the achievement of deaf and hard of hearing students ages birth-21 nationwide by supporting the families and professionals who work with these students. This support is in turn guided by public input gathered from educators, professionals, and families working with deaf and hard of hearing children.
At the Wheelock Family Theatre, located on the Boston Riverway, all performances are open captioned, FM receiver listening devices are available for use at any seat and selected performances of every production are interpreted in American Sign Language (ASL). The Boston Children’s Museum regularly schedules ASL interpreted programs. For more information check their monthly calendar.
The Discovery Museum in Acton, MA regularly offers free, capacity-limited events that let families with disabilities play and network together in an understanding museum environment. These Especially for Me events include: Mornings for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and KODA Infants, and Toddlers; and Evenings for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and KODA children. The New England Aquarium offers ASL interpreted programs from 12:30-4:00 p.m. on the first Sunday of every month. All programs are included in the admission price.For more information, call 617-973-5200.
