Scholarship opportunities listed below are for the 2014-2015 school year

Northern Essex Community College has a number of scholarship awards available to students from private donors, through the Office of Institutional Advancement located on our Haverhill Campus, Bentley Library – Room A317.

Please review all instructions and eligibility requirements prior to applying.

TRANSFER SCHOLARSHIPS
(students transferring to another institution)

Scholarship

A transfer scholarship for students entering a baccalaureate school, in the fall of 2014.  Award is $4,000 ($2,000/year for two years for a student in good standing.)
 
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Must verify acceptance at a 4 year college
  • Completed Transfer Scholarship Application
  • Two letters of recommendation from NECC staff or faculty
  • Personal statement demonstrating financial need (minimum 250 words)

Haverhill Community Television Transfer Scholarship A transfer scholarship for students entering a baccalaureate school in Fall of 2014. Award is $5,000 ($2,500/year for two years for a student in good standing, – two awards available.)
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Must verify acceptance at a 4 year college
  • Completed Transfer Scholarship Application
  • One letter of recommendation
  • Must be receiving Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts or related major with a focus on media & communications
  • Personal statement including description of any involvement in NECC community or local community and your interest in a career in media (250 words)
  • Essay: How do you believe the emerging new media and technology will impact the future of local news gathering and dissemination? (250 words)

Dr. John Spurk Memorial Scholarship
($500 award
may be transferred) Check the box on the NECC Scholarship Application
  • Must meet all Friends of NECC general scholarship criteria plus:
  • Minimum GPA of 3.2
  • Liberal Arts major with 12 Liberal Arts completed at NECC by the end of the Fall 2013 semester
  • Merrimack Valley resident
  • Additional essay: “How may a student use his/her education to improve his/her life and the world in general and make a contribution to society?” (200-500 words)

PACE Transfer Scholarship
Check the box on the NECC Scholarship Application
  • Must meet all Friends of NECC general scholarship criteria
  • Students must be participants in PACE Program

Applicants usually receive notification by the beginning of July. Recipients must write a thank you note for the donor, as well as return a signed letter showing they agree to the terms of the award.

 

Payment Information for Transfer Scholarship Awards

Awards are paid directly to the student’s transfer school. Recipients must forward a copy of their transfer school tuition bill to:
