Identify Funding Source (if necessary)
The creative and technical assistance provided by the Marketing Communication team is typically available to your department at no charge. Departments are responsible for production costs, which may include printing, photography, postage or vendor charges.
Identify Your Target Audience
A target audience is a specific group that will be the most receptive to your services, or promotions. The specificity of the group is based on factors like students, faulty, staff, public, program, location, and more. For example, if you are promoting an Athletic Info Session, your target audience might be Athletes, Prospective students, and current students.
Understand Your Strategic Goal/Objective
Understand what strategic goal/objective you want to accomplish.
Be Prepared to Provide Appropriate Feedback
Be prepared to provide appropriate feedback throughout the development phase of your project. For most projects, you will have one or more opportunities to give feedback. We will take your feedback seriously, but we will also bring our expertise and judgment to bear on your project. Our goal is to make the process as streamlined, inclusive, and beneficial as possible.
Identify Who has Final Approval
Identify who has final approval for this project. We will secure a final approval by your department’s designee immediately prior to production. Once approval is given, there is no further review.
