The Northeast Advanced Manufacturing Consortium Grant Funded
Learn the skills necessary to perform the basic machine operations of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) mills and lathes in this noncredit certificate program combining lecture, demonstration, discussion, and lab exercises.
The CNC Machine Operator Training Program is an 11-week intensive non-credit training course.
The MFG Foundational Skills portion of the training will be held at Northern Essex Community College’s Haverhill Campus. This portion is 140 hours long, and includes: OSHA/Safety, MFG Fundamentals, Quality, Six Sigma, Lean MFG, Basic Math, Machining Math, Computer Skills, Metrology, Inspection, Master CAM, Career Readiness, and Technical Communication, and at the end of the whole program, the NIMS and/or MACWIC exams.
After completing the MFG Foundational Skills portion of the training, the students will split into two groups: one group will go to Whittier Technical School, 115 Amesbury Line Road, Haverhill, MA and the other group will go to Greater Lawrence Technical School, 57 River Road, Andover, MA for Machining Lab and Certification Preparation. This portion of the program is 264 hours long which includes Blueprint & GDT, Machining Lab, online curriculum, and Certification Preparation.
Upon completion of this program, students are eligible to sit for the National Institute of Metalworking Skills (NIMS) Machine Operator 1 Certification Exam, and/or MACWIC Certification and will also receive an OSHA 10 Certificate, and Northern Essex Community College’s Advanced MFG Foundational Skills Certificate.
Interview with a Career Development Coach or Career Center Case Manager, High School Diploma or GED/HiSET, completed TABE testing in math and reading at 8th grade level or higher, CORI check required.
