COVID-19 Update: June 9, 2020
This weekly email includes college-wide updates related to the college’s evolving response to the COVID-19 crisis. You’ll find information about remote teaching, learning, work, and operations.
Plans for Fall
You’ve probably heard that most courses—80 percent or well over 400 courses— will be delivered online in the fall. Fewer than 100 courses, most in health or science, will have a face-to-face component. In those courses meeting face-to-face, strict social distancing guidelines will be followed.
Over the summer, faculty will be working on transitioning their classes to an online format. Bill Heineman, vice president of academic and student affairs, emphasized that these classes will be carefully designed to help students succeed in an online format.
The fall schedule is being adjusted now. The college will contact anyone who had already signed up for a face-to-face course to explain what will happen and assist with making changes.
If you have questions or have not yet registered, please contact advising@necc.mass.edu or 978 556-3700.

College Unveils “Bold” Marketing Campaign
Northern Essex has refocused its marketing campaign in response to the pandemic, according to Allison Dolan-Wilson, vice president of institutional advancement, now targeting recent high school graduates who are reconsidering plans for the fall; current college students who may be wary of returning to a residential campus; and unemployed workers.
The “Start at NECC” campaign includes print, digital, radio, social media, buses, and television, including a new 30-second video.
“It’s about now; bold and focused on quality and accessibility,” said Dolan-Wilson.
Find out how you can help amplify the college’s messages by sharing on your own social media and in your own networks.
