Be Early and Be Thoughtful

  • Look Up Your Advisor (Located on your Navigate Home Page, bottom right hand side)
  • Set up an Advising Appointment, Contact Us on Chat, or Email Us: Academic Advising

Be Prepared

  • Check if you have a hold. Holds are often intended to alert you to a matter that requires your immediate attention and resolution.
  • Therefore, before you register for the following term, you are encouraged to check if you have a hold.
  • How do you know if you have a hold? (Log  into myNECC, click My Information, View My Restrictions/Holds)
  • Know what courses are required for your program of study
    • Use Degree Works to know what classes you have remaining in your program
  • Find your course sequence (what order you should take your classes in) by going to your Academic Center website and looking at your major’s Pathway: Academic Centers
  • You can then build your plan in Navigate under Academic Plan: Navigate FAQs
  • Once you have an idea of what classes you would like to take for classes you can look them up in your Self-Service-Banner (SSB). (Student Services tab, Registration, Look up Classes)
  • Please be sure to look at the dates the courses are being offered: Is it a 1 month, 6 week, 8 week or 16 week class
  • Write down the CRN#’s and class titles for the classes you want to sign up for—write down alternate classes that you would like just in case yours are unavailable.
  • Write Down and Ask Your Questions. As you review your degree evaluation and prepare a couple of schedule options, you are bound to have a few questions.
    • You are strongly encouraged to come with questions regarding your program of study, academic policies, and degree requirements.  Do the work to ensure you stay on track to graduate.
