Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services

If you are a NECC student with a documented hearing disability, NECC’s Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services and the Center for Accessibility Resources & Services can assist with the coordination of communication services so you can take classes and participate in college activities, programs and services.

Communications can be flexible based on student’s needs and may consist of the following communication options: Zoom, Phone, In-Person, Video Relay Services (free), or Email.

The Center for Accessibility Resources & Services collaborates with Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services to enable NECC to meet legal obligations under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the The Current ADA Regulations.

Accessibility and inclusivity for the Northern Essex Community (students, staff, faculty, and visitors) is a campus-wide commitment. In many cases, a person with a disability or who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing may have contact with multiple campus entities in an attempt to resolve a variety of issues.
