Academic Advising

Whether you are just starting your education, considering transferring to earn your bachelor’s degree, planning on entering the job market, or are unsure about what you want to study, we can help you develop an academic plan to succeed on your path. Having conversations with advising early and often can help you understand and achieve your goals more quickly.

New Students

As a New Student, there are steps you can take before you meet with an advisor.

1)      Apply

2)      Academic Placement

3)      Orientation

Once you complete the Orientation Survey a staff member will call you within 24 to 48 hours for your Advising Appointment.

Current Students

Before registering for classes, we strongly encourage you to meet with your academic advisor. Advisors can help you stay on track with your program and make sure you’re selecting the right courses.

To find your assigned advisor and schedule an appointment:

1. Log into your Navigate account through MyNECC.
2. Click Appointments, then select My Team to view your advisor.
3. To schedule a meeting, choose Schedule an Appointment, then:
   • Select Academic Advising as the appointment type
   • Choose the appropriate service category
   • Pick a time that works for you

Virtual Drop-In Academic Advising

Virtual drop-in hours are ideal for briefly discussing academic needs, questions, or concerns in 15 minutes.

Virtual drop-in advising services include the following:

• Schedule adjustments – adding, dropping/withdrawing, or changing individual course.
• Clarifications of academic requirements – specific questions about course requirements or prerequisites.
• Review of course schedule/format
• Other questions that can be covered in 15 minutes.

• Tuesdays and Thursdays – 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

More in-depth questions or concerns such as academic planning or complete semester schedule revisions, appointments are best for longer conversations. Please schedule an appointment in Navigate or call 978-556-3700.
