As a Student Financial Aid Recipient, You Have the Right To:
- Privacy. All records and information submitted with your application for financial aid are confidential, and subject to legal requirements concerning disclosure of such information.
- Know what financial aid programs are available to you, including information on all federal, state and college financial aid programs.
- Know the application procedures and deadlines for each of the available programs.
- You have the right to know how financial need is determined, what the criteria are for awarding aid, how academic progress is determined, and what you have to do to continue receiving aid.
- Know how financial aid is distributed and the basis for these decisions.
- Know how your financial aid eligibility was determined. This includes how costs for tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, travel, and personal expenses were determined in your estimated cost of attendance. It also includes what resources were considered in the calculation of your financial aid eligibility.
- Know how and when financial aid is disbursed.
- View the contents of your student financial aid file, in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.
- Know the conditions of any loan you accept and request a reduction or cancellation of your student loan if you so choose.
- Know the terms, conditions, and pay rate for any student job you are offered and accept.
- Appeal any decision with the Office of Financial Aid in regard to your application.
- Know about the refund policies for both NECC and Financial Aid if you withdraw after the semester begins.

As a Student Financial Aid Recipient, It Is Your Responsibility To:
- Complete and submit application materials to the appropriate agencies within required or recommended time frames.
- Regularly check your “myNECC” self service account for information from NECC and the Financial Aid Office. A link for email can be found when you login to myNECC, under the heading Frequently Used tools. To set up your email account for the first time, go to the Email information page. To view your NECC Self-Service account Financial Aid information log in to myNECC using your myNECC ID and password then select the Financial Aid tab
- Read all materials sent to you from the NECC, the Financial Aid Office and other agencies awarding you aid. Read, understand, and keep copies of all forms you sign.
- You must keep your parents or guardians informed of all financial aid requirements and deadlines if you are a dependent student.
- Provide correct and up to date information at all times. Reporting false information is a violation of the law and may be considered a criminal offense.
- Know and comply with the rules governing the aid you receive. These rules include but are not limited to the following:
- You must not be in default on any prior educational loan.
- You must not owe a refund on any type of Title IV Aid due to repayment.
- Submit, by the deadline indicated, all additional documentation, verification, corrections and/or new information requested by either the Financial Aid Office or the agencies to which you submitted applications. Some examples include: federal tax returns, verification forms, loan entrance counseling, loan promissory notes, and loan exit counseling prior to leaving school.Notify us in writing if you are receiving financial aid for attendance at another institution while attending NECC.
- Use student financial aid proceeds solely for educational costs and related living expenses.
- Notify the lender, if you are a recipient of a Federal Direct Stafford Loan, should any of the following occur before the loan is repaid:
- You change your address and/or phone number
- You graduate
- You withdraw from school or are enrolled less than half time
- You change your name (e.g., maiden to married name)
- You transfer to another university
- Know the implications that dropping a course or withdrawing from NECC will have on your student financial aid.
- Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
- Report private sources of student financial aid to the Financial Aid Office.
