NECC Receives Continuation of Its Accreditation

Submitted by on April 13, 2011 – 12:04 pm

Northern Essex Community recently received good news from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc. (NEASC). After completing an intensive process that included a comprehensive self study and a visit from a NEASC team last fall, the college received word that its accreditation has been continued for the next 10 years with a fifth-year interim report for consideration in the fall of 2015.

“This is terrific news for Northern Essex and its faculty, staff, and students,” said David F. Hartleb, president of the college. “The positive team report and equally positive notification letter are an endorsement of what we’re doing at the college, recognizing what we’ve accomplished and our vision for the future.”

NEASC accreditation is critically important to a college or university. According to the NEASC website, “an accredited school or college is one which has available the necessary resources to achieve its stated purpose through appropriate educational programs, is substantially doing so, and gives reasonable evidence that it will continue to do so in the foreseeable future.”
