Still Point Dancers

Group therapy and the seven deadly sins will take center stage this month when Northern Essex Community College’s Still Point Dancers put on the annual spring performance on Friday, April 29, and Saturday, April 30, at 8 p.m.. in the Sports and Fitness Center on the Haverhill Campus, 100 Elliott St.

NECC dance coordinator Michelle Deane choreographed a modern dance piece titled, “The Meeting”. This piece, performed by the dance repertory class, embodies the feelings of the individual during group meetings, such as AA meeting and group therapy type meetings. It’s explores how bare individuals feel when they share their souls to one another in this type of setting. The piece is centered on five red wooden chairs shaped in the typical therapy half circle.

“New Visions of Piers Plowman”, a choreographed piece by NECC student Ryan Jennings of Andover, is a dance about the seven deadly sins. In this piece every person represents a different sin, and their movements are an expression of which one they are portraying.

Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students and seniors, and $3 for children under 12.
