Graphic design professor Lance Hidy is the art director for a recently released iPad application about Ansel Adams.

Little, Brown and Company, a division of Hachette Book Group, released Ansel Adams for the iPad, a groundbreaking interactive application available now on iTunes. It provides a multi-tiered introduction to the life and work of the most honored American photographer of the 20th century.

The application was created in collaboration with The Ansel Adams Trust and includes a slideshow of 40 Ansel Adams photographs, with optional audio narration, written commentary, or synchronized music; embedded video excerpts from documentary films about Adams; a rich selection of letters between Adams and leading figures in the worlds of art, photography, and politics, and a complete bibliography.

Ansel Adams is a familiar topic for Hidy who knew Adams personally and has designed five Ansel Adams books for Little, Brown. The most recent – Ansel Adams in the National Parks – was issued last fall.
