For more than 15 years, Covanta Energy (formerly Ogden Martin) has been a strong donor to Northern Essex Community College. In the past, they have donated funds a number of times to assist with the enhancement of student programs, such as calculators for students to use in developmental math and equipment for a smart classroom in the Science Department. They have also provided opportunities for students for a co-operative education experience at Covanta. Since 2005, Ken Nydam, business manager at Covanta Energy, has been a representative on the NECC Foundation Board. Covanta has been the major sponsor of NECC’s annual signature event held each fall, and most recent they created an endowed scholarship for students pursuing an associate degree in natural science, laboratory science or engineering science.  Covanta is also a resource for NECC’s green initiative and has donated recycling bins to assist the college in this regard.  Northern Essex Community College is grateful to Covanta Energy for their support
