A semester of running around campus paid off for NECC’s President’s Running Club which had great success on Sunday, May 6 at the Run a Pleasant 5K road race in Tewksbury, MA.
Fourteen NECC runners—wearing colorful yellow and blue t-shirts proclaiming “We Run the Campus”—completed the race and four of them placed in their age groups.
Faculty, staff, and student runners included Linda Desjardins, Maria Gonzalez, Joshua Abreu, Kristin Sparrow, Jeff Bickford, Robert Horan, David Howard, Bill Zannini, Sharon McDermot, Christine DeRosa, Gail Stuart, Sherrie Carroll, Emily Gonzalez, Aimee Stevens, and Glenys Crane-Emerson.
Josh Abreau (23:00), Maria Gonzalez (22:38), and Linda Desjardins (26:33) won gold medals for placing first in their age groups and Kristin Sparrow (23:58) earned a silver medal.
After taking the summer off, the President’s Running Club will return in September. New members are welcome.
