Submitted by on May 17, 2012 – 8:57 am

Aspiring teachers planning on sitting for the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) held in July, can enroll in a 10-hour, four-week prep course offered beginning on June 9th through Northern Essex Community College’s Workforce Development and Community Education Department at the Riverwalk, 360 Merrimack St., Lawrence.

The MTEL Prep course is a non-credit course designed to prepare those who plan to take the July 2012 Communication and Literacy Skills Test (CLST), which is the first test required toward licensure as a teacher or educational administrator and for students transferring to four-year colleges to become teachers in the state of Massachusetts.

The MTEL Prep Course provides an overview of the test, an intensive review of the skills assessed by the test, the opportunity to take sample tests, and strategies for test-taking. It will be held on Saturdays from June 9th through June 30th from 9:30 a.m. until noon. The cost is $199, which includes all materials.
