NECC graduate Sara Delcore was unable to attend her May 19 graduation from Northern Essex Community College because she’s now serving in California with the US Marines.

That didn’t stop her mother, Cathy Julian, from attending graduation, though.

Julian didn’t just attend; she participated in her daughter’s place, wearing her black graduation gown and a graduation cap that she had decorated with her daughter’s photo and the US Marine insignia.
Julian proudly walked across the stage and accepted her daughter’s diploma from NECC President Lane Glenn, while the crowd of over 3000 people clapped.

Delcore, who along with her mother, is a resident of East Hampstead, NH, graduated with honors and an associate degree in liberal arts.
