College Information Session Offered for High School Seniors

High school seniors are invited to take advantage of two special enrollment opportunities at Northern Essex Community College. The college is hosting an admission information session designed specifically for high school seniors on Tuesday, June 11 at 6 p.m. at its Haverhill Campus and on Thursday, June 13 at 6 p.m. at its Lawrence campus.
Representatives will be available to answer questions on financial aid, NECC programs, and more at the information sessions, which will be held in the in the Behrakis One-Stop Student Services Center of the Haverhill campus located at 100 Elliott Street and at the Lawrence campus at 45 Franklin Street.
Special registration days and walk-in advising hours for high school seniors will also be available at both locations, Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., June 10 through June 21.
More recent high school graduates are choosing to start at Northern Essex, according to fall 2012 enrollment figures. High school enrollments at Northern Essex were up as follows: Lawrence High School, up 53*; Haverhill High School, up 30*; Methuen High School, up 27*; Timberlane Regional High School, up 58*; Salem (NH) High School, up 31*; North Andover High School, up 50*; Amesbury High School, up 94*; Sanborn (NH) Regional High School, up 62*.
“It’s all about value and quality,” said Northern Essex Community College President Lane Glenn. “High school students and their families are recognizing the value of starting at a community college. One recent Northern Essex graduate, who received her liberal arts associate degree here and graduated with a bachelor’s from Salem State was buying a house while her peers were worried about paying off college loans.”
Northern Essex offers over 70 associate degree and certificate programs as well as hundreds of noncredit courses designed for personal enrichment and career growth. Over 15,000 students ranging from recent high school graduates to workers employed locally attend classes days, evenings, weekends, and summers.
