Students enrolled in Northern Essex Community College’s noncredit Creative Black & White photography class are hosting a photo exhibit of their work at the Haverhill Public Library, 99 Main St., Haverhill, now through February 1, with a reception on Thursday, January 9, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. This class was taught by professional photographer Dave Petty of DPImaging.

Creative B & W is one of four noncredit courses students can take to earn a Beginner’s Certificate in photography. Students who successfully complete Basic Photography, Beyond Basic Photography and Creative Black and White and Intro to Adobe Photoshop may also earn 3 credits (as the equivalent of ART 130) applicable toward their NECC associate degree or certificate program.

Whether pursuing photography as a hobby or a career, NECC is offering a number of noncredit photography courses, some of which can be applied toward a certificate or degree, at NECC Riverwalk in Lawrence this spring.

The NECC photography program offers the flexibility to either take a singular class of particular interest or step through all of the skill-building modules for a complete learning experience. Participants will learn from hands-on projects and review sessions and master the necessary camera functions to create beautiful imagery. Technique, mechanical control, and a deep exploration of light are the cornerstones of the classes.

Other noncredit photography courses offered through NECC include Intro to Flash Photography, Artist to Entrepreneur, Portraits, Photoshop Techniques for the Web, Family Photography and Entertainment, and Digital Photo Imaging 2 – Adobe Photoshop, Family Photography and Entertainment.

For additional information on all noncredit photography courses, visit the noncredit photography page.
