2015 NECC Student Art Show Winners (L to R) third prize winner Julian Cruz, President’s Purchase Prize winner Ryan Silva, NECC President Lane Glenn, and Honorable Mention winner Frank Hawks.

Ryan Silva of Salisbury received the Northern Essex President’s Purchase Prize for his sculpture “Wire Violin” during the NECC 2015 Student Show in the Linda Hummel-Shea ArtSpace in the Bentley Library on the Haverhill campus.

His piece was created from an ungalvanized steel wire creatively twisted into a three dimensional violin sculpture. Silva was presented the $200 President’s Purchase Prize by NECC President Lane Glenn who told the dozens of parents and friends of the student artists that he “…loves when this room is filled with creative pieces of art”.

Some two dozen NECC Art & Design students from Drawing, Painting, Photography, Two & Three Dimensional Foundations, Digital & Interactive Media and Multi-Media Courses submitted various works of art for the exhibit.
