NECC’s Institutional Advancement staff were on hand to take donations and pledges from faculty, staff, and students during #GivingTuesday

More than $5,600 was donated or pledged to Northern Essex Community College during its second annual participation in #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back celebrated the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, which this year was November 29.

According to Erin Willett Hiro, director of NECC’s annual planning & advancement services, 81 NECC faculty, staff & students, alumni & friends donated a total of $4155.14 with another 47 pledging $1,595.

Hot chocolate bars were set around the Haverhill and Lawrence campuses and staffed with employees from NECC’s Institutional Advancement office.

“Our efforts have significantly increased awareness about our fundraising program here at the college,” said Hiro. “Additionally, we are really excited that our #GivingTuesday video has helped to spread our message even further. To date, it has been viewed more than 700 times on Facebook/YouTube.”

Additional donations can still be made to NECC as part of the #GivingTuesday campaign by contacting Erin Willett Hiro at ewillett@necc.mass.edu or call 978-556-3857.
