College for Kids Returns to Haverhill Campus

Submitted by on May 30, 2018 – 2:23 pm

Local children attending College for Kids participate in an outdoor game.

If building rockets, or getting lost in the wacky world of Dr. Seuss, or discovering ways to live greener sounds like something your children would be interested in, then they should be enrolled in Northern Essex Community College’s STEM/College for Kids program for kids this summer.

NECC celebrates its 20th year offering this summer program. The program is returning to the Haverhill campus, 100 Elliott St. Enrollment is still open.

Starting in July, NECC will host students on a weekly basis. From July 9th to August 3rd, there will be three, daily sessions that run two hours each from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m., and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

There are three age divisions: juniors – seven to 10-year olds; seniors – 10 to 13-year-olds and STEM Academy students – 13 to 16-year-olds. Each age level will be separated in order to offer age appropriate courses to students.

The classes each offer 10 hours of activity time over the course of the week. The summer 2018 schedule includes courses titled “What’s in My Backyard?” “Fairytale Re-Write,” “Paint Nite for Kids,” “Dive Deep,” “Sports, Sports, Sports” and more.
