Financial Aid C.O.R.E. Scholarship

Take Advantage of the Financial Aid C.O.R.E. Scholarship, as C.O.R.E. stands for Continuing Opportunities for Retention through Excellence!

It is a pleasure to introduce the C.O.R.E. Scholarship, formerly known as the Access, Retention, and iHealth Scholarships. The C.O.R.E. Scholarship combines the best of all three former scholarships, allowing students the opportunity to continue their educational journey.

The purpose of the C.O.R.E. Scholarship is to help close the gap between an outstanding semester balance and awarded financial aid. The scholarship may also be awarded beyond tuition and fees for books/supplies that can be purchased at the NECC Bookstore. The C.O.R.E. Scholarship is awarded to those who exhibit a financial need, whether it be new and/or returning students.

C.O.R.E. Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the C.O.R.E. Scholarship students must:

  • Be enrolled in a degree and/or certificate program
  • Be registered for 1 or more classes in the semester for which you are requesting funds, and classes must count towards degree completion.
  • Maintain a 2.5 GPA (no GPA requirement for new students – this is for returning students)
  • Complete the FAFSA and submit any additional financial aid documentation requested by NECC to determine your financial need
  • Must have an outstanding account balance in the semester you are applying for
  • Be making Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
  • Submit the C.O.R.E. online scholarship application ONLY if you meet all the above requirements.
  • If you do not meet the above requirements (for example international, DACA, or undocumented), please indicate in the application why you do not qualify for financial aid.
  • Early College students are not eligible to apply.

Scholarships Are Awarded Based on Available Funds and Financial Need

Applications are reviewed in the order they are received. If eligible, funds are awarded based on available funding each semester. Students must reapply to qualify for the C.O.R.E. scholarship in subsequent semesters even if they received a Financial Aid Scholarship previously.

NO REFUNDS: Students will not receive refunds from the C.O.R.E. Scholarship; awards will be adjusted to pay for balances on students’ accounts. The C.O.RE. Scholarship may be adjusted or cancelled if the student receives additional grants or scholarships after the C.O.RE. Scholarship is awarded.

The application for the Summer 2024 semester is closed.
