Create Positive Change on Campus
As a member of the Student Government Association, your voice, actions, and decisions can have an immediate and long-term impact on the NECC student body. You’ll help identify and address student concerns while creating an inclusive environment and promoting better communication and collaboration among students, faculty, and staff. Additionally, you have use of an office for SGA business on the Haverhill campus in the Student Center on the second floor in the Knights Nook, cube 1 & 2 and on the Lawrence Campus in the Dimitry (L) Building, room 133. As a student involved in SGA you can attend regional conferences and summits and this will make a powerful addition to your resume.

Vice President of the Haverhill Campus, Lam Tien
Hello, my name is Lam Tien and I’m serving as the Vice President of the Haverhill Campus as well as as the acting President of the SGA at Northern Essex Community College. I was born and raised in Lawrence, MA and I am now living in Haverhill, MA. I’m currently at NECC studying Laboratory Science. I’m a veteran of the Armed Forces and served for 11 years, from this experience I learned a lot about leadership that I will use in my SGA role. I joined SGA because I want the students to have a voice, support them in any way, and to make their time at NECC as enjoyable as possible. I am honored to be in this position and I am looking forward to not only the opportunities that SGA will give but also I am looking forward to working with an amazing group of people.

Secretary, Alyssa Piccolo
My name is Alyssa Piccolo and I currently serve as the Secretary for the Student Government Association here at Northern Essex Community College. I am a sophomore planning on graduating in the Spring of 2021. I am an only child who loves nothing more than spending time with her family and engaging in school-related activities where I am able to help and give back to my peers as much as possible. I am an Early Childhood Education Major, and I work with children ages from infants to preschool and school age. I love children and the ability to help them grow academically is amazing to experience first hand. Therefore, when I was in high school I participated in Skills USA where I served as a leadership member and competed in my shop which at the time was Graphic Communications and Design. Being apart of SkillsUSA has really given me the opportunity to explore, meet new people, and gain an abundance of courage and support along the way. I strongly believe my experience with SkillsUSA helped me to take advantage of getting involved with SGA. I appreciate SGA because I get to help, be involved, and act as a leader to everyone and anyone. I love knowing that I can be apart of other’s lives in a positive manner. Also, I really have met the greatest people in SGA, and seeing everyone in their positions really has shown me that with great minds, and dedication anything is possible. Overall, SGA has brought this light to my life and I am forever grateful to call the other members and my advisor family. So I hope you consider joining SGA. We have a lot of fun!

SGA Suggestion Box
Please share with us your suggestions, complaints, and ideas regarding your Northern Essex Community College (NECC) experience.
Every change big or small requires two things, an idea, and people. Simply sharing an idea or even a concern is the first step in creating change on our campus. Change cannot happen with a single person. With your help and your ideas, we can all make NECC into not just a College but our home where everyone in our community is welcome and included.
Northern Essex Community College students may use this anonymous form to submit suggestions, complaints, and ideas to the NECC Student Government Association (SGA) for change we can advocate for on campus.
While the form can be submitted anonymously, you can also provide your name and contact information (below) if you’d like a direct response regarding your suggestion. If you would like it to be anonymous please disregard the fields below that would identify you.
Don’t forget any NECC student can bring their ideas/ questions/concerns to our SGA meetings which are open to our entire campus community. SGA meets on the 1st & 3rd Thursday of every month while classes are in session in the fall and spring semester at 4:00PM.
