Academic Placement & Testing Office Hours
The Academic Placement & Testing Center remote student service hours are Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
Due to COVID-19 and in an effort to keep everyone safe, and with limited college resources, we encourage students to test remotely. The Academic Placement & Testing Center will continue to offer remote testing and is offering in-person services at the Haverhill Campus, on a limited basis.
- Academic Assessment (ACCUPLACER) is being offered remotely and in-person, on a limited basis, at the Haverhill Campus, by appointment only. Prior to testing, check our list of waiver options to determine if you may be waived from testing on the Academic Assessment web page. If you need to test, go to the Accuplacer Test Dates page to request an appointment.
- ATI TEAS and Fundamentals testing will be offered remotely until further notice, for NECC students. Go to the Health Profession Testing page for registration information.
- HiSET and GED testing is being offered remotely and in-person, on a limited basis, at the Haverhill Campus, by appointment only. Go to the HSE Testing Registration Information page for more information.
- All other testing services (CLEP-DSST, Pearson VUE, Kryterion, and Proctored Testing) are being scheduled in-person, on a limited basis, at the Haverhill Campus. Go to our Testing Services page, and select the test you are interested in taking for registration information and updates.
- Credit for Prior Learning is available remotely and in-person, on a limited basis, at the Haverhill Campus. Go to our Credit for Prior Learning page to Get Started.

You can choose to have your order shipped directly to you for a standard flat rate shipping fee of $7.50. If you need an alternative option, please reach out to the bookstore by calling 978-556-3999 or email 1338mgr@follett.com to schedule a time to go into the store to pick up your online order- after you have received an email letting you know that it is fulfilled and ready for pick up. Haverhill will be open by appointment only Mon – Thur 10 AM – 5 PM, and Fridays 10 AM – 4 PM.

We will continue to provide academic, transfer, scholarship, career and general advising on an individual basis through Zoom. Workshops
All PACE workshops have been shifted to Blackboard. You may earn PACE Participation credit by completing the mini assignment on the last slide of each workshop and emailing it to PACE staff.
Field trips
All field trips have been postponed indefinitely. We have organized several virtual trips for you to access on Blackboard. Please note you can still earn PACE Participation credit by participating in virtual trips and submitting a brief reflection and any questions to jrocker@necc.mass.edu.

To facilitate tutors to effectively prepare for your meeting, please provide the following information when making your appointment:

- What chapter you’d like to address
- Provide specific problem numbers and/or questions

ThinkingStorm
ThinkingStorm is an academic support program that gives all NECC students 24/7 online tutoring in a variety of subjects.
To access ThinkingStorm go to your Blackboard page. There will be a link to ThinkingStorm in the lower left corner. Click on login to ThinkingStorm and you will see the tutoring options.
How to Use ThinkingStorm Online Tutoring
ThinkingStorm is an academic support program that gives students online access to live, one-to-one assistance from trained and qualified tutors. ThinkingStorm is offered to NECC students at no additional cost.
Logging in to ThinkingStorm
- Log into MyNECC Portal and sign into your NECC Blackboard account.
- In the top right corner of your Blackboard account, select the tab for “Student Resources.”
- Click on the link for ThinkingStorm and you will automatically be logged into your account.
Online Tutoring Categories
There is a variety of subjects available for students to access for online tutoring support, including math, statistics, writing, science, health sciences, business, and specialty topics (computer applications, computer programming, and software).
Please note: Online writing support occurs asynchronously by uploading assignment drafts and receiving feedback through email. Online tutoring support for health science, business and other specialty topics are available in the system by appointment only.
Limits
Students are limited to 5 hours of free online ThinkingStorm tutoring per semester. Please use your time wisely. If you have exceeded the maximum, you will receive a message to contact the Tutoring Center.
