There will be no Academic Assessment (Accuplacer) Testing until further notice.  Academic Placement & Testing office will keep our Accuplacer Test Dates webpage updated at www.necc.mass.edu/apply/assessment/accuplacer-test-dates/.

All other testing services have been suspended until further notice.

During this ever-changing landscape of remote learning, Academic Advisors are available to help all NECC students with their advising needs.

Student Success Hub Advising will be available for remote advising only with students using online chat, Virtual Appointment, Email and Phone. There will be no in-person meetings at this time.

One-on-one Virtual Appointments

We will continue to provide academic, transfer, scholarship, career and general advising on an individual basis through Zoom. To make an appointment, please email npelletier@necc.mass.edu or text 978-627-0484 with possible days/times you are available to meet and what you need help with. PACE staff are available from 9:00 am-5:00 pm for one-on-one appointments.

Note: After receiving your request, we will confirm the meeting time and send you the Zoom link prior to the video meeting. We will email you any documents or handouts that you may need.

Workshops

All PACE workshops have been shifted to Blackboard. You may earn PACE Participation credit by completing the mini assignment on the last slide of each workshop and emailing it to PACE staff.

Field trips

All field trips have been postponed indefinitely. We have organized several virtual trips for you to access on Blackboard. Please note you can still earn PACE Participation credit by participating in virtual trips and submitting a brief reflection and any questions to jrocker@necc.mass.edu.

Tutoring

You can continue to access PACE hours for Thinkingstorm Online Tutoring and Writing Center through Blackboard. If you need additional hours, please contact npelletier@necc.mass.edu

Tutoring

Tutoring

The Tutoring Center will not be offering face to face appointments until further notice. We will only be offering remote services as follows:

Writing/Reading/ESL Tutoring

Students who wish to contact a writing, reading or ESL tutor should email Jennifer Levesque at jlevesque@necc.mass.edu with their name, ID number and the class they need help with. Someone will contact them within 24 hours during the tutoring hours of Monday through Thursday 9:00am – 7:00pm and Friday 10:00 am – 2:00 pm.

Math/Science/Computer Science Tutoring

Students who wish to reach a math, science or computer science tutor should email the tutoring center at tutoringcenter@necc.mass.edu with their name, ID number and the class they need help with. Someone will contact them within 24 hours during the tutoring hours of Monday through Thursday 9:00am – 7:00pm and  Friday 9:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Please note that all student e-mails will be directed to Jennifer Levesque or Ingrid Polanco who have a list of tutors, their schedules, subject areas of expertise and contact information. Jennifer and Ingrid will connect the students to the appropriate tutor. We have developed a tracking system to ensure the tutor will follows up with the student. Tutors will be maintaining their normal schedules but ONLINE.

ThinkingStorm

ThinkingStorm is an academic support program that gives all NECC students 24/7 online tutoring in a variety of subjects.

To access ThinkingStorm go to your Blackboard page. There will be a link to ThinkingStorm in the lower left corner. Click on login to ThinkingStorm and you will see the tutoring options.

ThinkingStorm is an academic support program that gives students online access to live, one-to-one assistance from trained and qualified tutors. ThinkingStorm is offered to NECC students at no additional cost.

  1. Log into MyNECC Portal and sign into your NECC Blackboard account.
  2. In the top right corner of your Blackboard account, select the tab for “Student Resources.”
  3. Click on the link for ThinkingStorm and you will automatically be logged into your account.

There is a variety of subjects available for students to access for online tutoring support, including math, statistics, writing, science, health sciences, business, and specialty topics (computer applications, computer programming, and software).

Please note: Online writing support occurs asynchronously by uploading assignment drafts and receiving feedback through email. Online tutoring support for health science, business and other specialty topics are available in the system by appointment only.

Limits
Limits

Students are limited to 5 hours of free online tutoring per semester. Please use your time wisely. If you have exceeded the maximum, you will receive a message to contact the Tutoring Center.
