Dimitry Renovation Project
Building Improvements to Enhance Your Learning Environment!
The Dimitry Building (45 Franklin St, Lawrence) will be undergoing renovations through December 2018. When complete, the building will feature new windows, new siding, parking lot improvements, and new and beautifully landscaped outdoor space. The renovation is anticipated to cost $6.5 million and it is being funded by the Massachusetts Division of Capital Asset Management. View architectural renderings of the Dimitry renovations.
Temporary Classroom/Office Relocations:
Beginning in the spring of 2017, departments and services currently located in the Dimitry Building are being relocated. You can view the Department Relocations list here including a timeline for the moves.
Beginning in the fall of 2017, classes normally held in the Dimitry Building will be moved to other locations including:
- NECC Louise Haffner Fournier Education Center, 78 Amesbury Street; Dr. Ibrahim El-Hefni Allied Health & Technology Center, 414 Common Street, and NECC Riverwalk, 360 Merrimack Street, all located in Lawrence
- Classrooms on the Haverhill Campus

Food, Parking, and the Shuttle Service
Food will be available in the Follett Bookstore on the first floor of 420 Common Street, and in the Revolving Test Kitchen (currently El Encanto BBQ) at 420 Common Street, and also at vending machines around campus. For more information on food available on campus, visit the NECC Campus Food page.
Beginning Wednesday, March 14, 2018, a fence will be put up along the building, as well as a small area inside the Dimitry Parking Lot A. Parking will still be available for those with a valid NECC parking decal in Dimitry Lot A, as well as at the following campus locations:
- Goudreault Lot C – across from El Hefni
- Haffner Lot D – rear of 78 Amesbury St.
The entrance and exit to Dimitry Lot A will be shifted to Common St. There will be no available access to the Dimitry building via Franklin St.
Additionally, in Lawrence, the Buckley Garage Lot E or 420 Common St. Lot B, also known as the Post-Office Lot, will be used for overflow parking purposes only. All students, faculty, and staff on the Lawrence campus will be eligible to have their ticket validated with a valid NECC parking permit when all NECC lots are at full capacity. Public Safety Officers (PSO’s) will not validate tickets if there is available parking in any NECC parking lot.
