  • Complete NECC’s Virtual New Student Orientation and Advising Program (or Orientación Estudiantil de NECC en Español).
  • After you finish the orientation, complete the Orientation Completion Survey (at the bottom of the orientation website). Then a staff member will contact you to schedule a Virtual Advising Appointment to help you register for classes.

What Do I Need for Enrollment into Academic ESL Classes at NECC?

In order to take Academic ESL classes at NECC, you must have (1) a high school diploma or GED, (2) a completed college application, and (3) at least High Intermediate scores on all parts of the NECC ESL Placement test.

Academic ESL classes are available in the morning or evening. They are in person or hybrid (partially online).

What Are the English Requirements for F-1 Visa Students?

Here are three different ways to show that your English proficiency is appropriate for college work:

  1. A TOEFL iBT score of 41 or higher
  2. A Duolingo English Test score of 70 or higher
  3. Take the NECC Placement Test in the Assessment Center if you are already in the United States.
